Except with the blue pair - which he just wore to death, I used a pair of his knee-length jean shorts for a guide. But there were still a couple of holes higher up that needed patches. The Little Mister decided he wanted skulls. He traced the pattern from a hooded sweatshirt I bought him months ago. A little Wonder-Under, backstitching, and freehand embroidery later, voila! Finally something for the boy
This is a simple, no-sewing required refashion. The Little Mister needed shorts to take to his pop's. I had admired Boden's sweatpant shorts and he happened to have 3 pair of hole-y sweatpants. Out came the scissors!

Daryl Hall Concert
We are in the midst of summer here and that means – outdoor concerts! Last Friday I took the kids to the Daryl Hall concert and it was great. There was a really big crowd. He did some of his solo songs and then worked his way to Hall and Oates classics. And he did 1 encore ending with “You Make My Dreams Come True” (The theme for his web show Live from Daryl’s House).
It was a fabulous time – the weather was perfect and the kids got to hear what I play in the car so often live.
I even got a chance to work on a cross stitch project I’ve had for ever so long. This was the first time the Little Miss saw me working a cross stitch and she wanted one. So off we went to the craft store to get her a stamped cross stitch pattern. It’s a turtle on a glow-in-the-dark background. She’s been working really hard on it. And the p-stash sheet has been perfect for her to keep her project together. She even keeps her scissors in it and the scissors don’t puncture the sheet!

Bottoms Up!
*Argh* All of the blogs I was following are no longer in my list. I will have to fix that...
I finally got around to working on - and posting - refashions for me. These are a couple of simple refashions: a size 22W pleated cotton skirt I got from dollar day a few months ago and a pair of mens jeans I found at the thrift store outlet.

I just took in the right side seam on the skirt. The zipper is on the left so I couldn't take it in evenly.
I put a dart in the back waist of the jeans and put 6" cuffs in the legs to make capris. I know the big cuff is (*cough*) trendy, but I'm not sure I love it. I think I'm going to just cut and sew the legs.
On a side note - It is amazing how BIG I look in the photos I took this week. I totally think I don't look that way in person but they say the camera never lies...

I've Taken the Pledge!
I, Juli of The Happy Homemaker - Redux, pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 4 months. I pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoted, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftiness brings!
Yay! I finally got picked for Wardrobe Refashion! I'm working on a skirt on got from dollar day and hopefully will get to post tomorrow.
